Nifedipine, dimethyl ether 1,4-dihydro-2,6-dimethyl-4-(2′-nitrophenyl)-3,5- piridindicarboxylic acid (19.3.16), is synthesized by a Hantsch synthesis from two molecules of a β-dicarbonyl compound—methyl acetoacetate, using as the aldehyde component— 2-nitrobenzaldehyde and ammonia. The sequence of the intermediate stages of synthesis has not been completely established.

In the 100 ml flask is added in a single port 0.01 μM % Lewis acid-base dual function catalyst I (wherein R^f=CF₃; R¹, R², R³, R⁴, R⁵, R⁶=F), 0.1 μM O-nitrobenzaldehyde (R⁷=2 - NO₂- Ph), 0.1 μM methyl acetoacetate (R⁸=Me; R⁹=Me), 0.1 μM ammonium acetate, 10 ml toluene, the reaction in the 100 °C stirring for 10 hours, TLC tracking reaction to the reaction is complete. The reaction result is: product II (R⁷=2 - NO₂- Ph; R⁸=Me; R⁹=Me) of yield of 99%; catalyst system used repeatedly 10 times, its catalytic performance did not decline
