芫花為瑞香科植物芫花Daphne genkwa Sieb.et Zucc.的干燥花蕾。分布于福建、浙江、江蘇、安徽、湖北、湖南等地。芫花具有瀉水逐飲、解毒殺蟲的功效。主要用于治療水腫脹滿、胸腹積水、痰飲積聚、氣逆喘咳、二便不利等癥。外用可治療疥癬禿瘡、凍瘡。臨床多醋炙為醋芫花使用或生用。芫花的根皮具有“催生去胎”作用,我國民間用其引產(chǎn)。其葉可治療牙疼和間日瘧。芫花的成分主要有芫花素(Genkwanin)、芹菜素(Apigenin)、3′-羥基芫花素(3′-Hydroxygenkwanin)、芫根甙 (Yuankanin)、木犀草素 (Luteolin)、芫花瑞香寧 (Genkwadaphnin)、芫花酯甲 (芫花萜,Yuanhuacine)、芫花酯乙(Yuanhuadine)、芫花酯丙(Yuanhuafine)、芫花酯丁 (Yuanhuatine)、芫花酯戊 (Yuanhuapine)。揮發(fā)油有棕櫚酸、油酸、亞油酸等。尚含谷甾醇、苯甲酸及刺激有毒油狀物等。
芫花素還具有抗氧化、抗腫瘤、抗炎以及鎮(zhèn)痛等多種功效, 且毒副反應(yīng)少。

Cell viability analysis shows that Genkwanin does not affect the cell viability up to a concentration of 50 μM. Genkwanin inhibits the LPS-induced production of NO in a concentration-dependent manner. iNOS only expresses in the present of external stimulus. Genkwanin could not significantly affect the activity of iNOS. The effect of Genkwanin on the production of proinflammatory cytokines is examined. Genkwanin suppresses the productions of TNF-a, IL-1b and IL-6 in LPS stimulated RAW264.7 macrophages in a concentration-dependent manner. Genkwanin significantly suppresses the AP-1 signaling pathway but has little effect on the NF-kB signaling pathway. It is indicated that Genkwanin suppresses the phosphorylation of p38 and JNK in a concentration-dependent manner, but little affects ERK1/2 phosphorylation. Originally identified as an immediate early gene, MKP-1 is then found to be a dual specificity phosphatase acting as a negative regulator of ERK1/2, JNK and p38 MAPK activities, with predominant effects on the latter two. Pretreatment with Genkwanin markedly up-regulates the expression of MKP-1 without affecting MKP-1 mRNA.
