General procedure: 1-substituted-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolines 1 (0.3 mmol) were placed in a Schlenk tube and then DMF (1 mL) was added. The mixture was stirred at 100 °C for 24 h. Then the mixture was slowly cooled to room temperature, the solvent DMF was carefully removed under vaccum, the crude product was purified by flash chromatography on silica gel employing petroleum ether and ethyl acetate as eluent to give the corresponding product imines 2.
