Icatibant is a selective competitive antagonist of bradykinin type 2 (B2) receptor, a decapeptide with a structure similar to bradykinin, in which there are 5 amino acids of non protein origin. As early as November 1, 2010, the European Union approved the launch of ateban for the treatment of acute episodes of hereditary angioedema (HAE).
