Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Chemical Properties]
Di(ethylene glycol) vinyl ether (DEGMVE) is a colorless and transparent liquid with a slight odor similar to diethyl ether. It is soluble in water and some organic solvents such as alcohol and ether. Both DEGMVE and DEGDVE are chemical active and easy to be polymerized, and a small amount of NaOH is often added as a polymerization inhibitor. | [Synthesis]
Acetylene reacts with diethylene glycol in the presence of a catalyst such as potassium hydroxide or potassium diethylene glycol to yield Di(ethylene glycol) vinyl ether (DEGMVE) and Diethylene glycol divinyl ether (DEGDVE):
| [Uses]
Di(ethylene glycol) vinyl ether is an important chemical intermediate compound for the synthesis of other organic materials. In addition, it is an efficient deactivation reagent for olefin complexation catalysts. |
