Steps:
Synthesis of 2-(butylthio)ethanamine (3S)
1-bromobutane (3 ml, 27.8 mmol), cysteamine (3.16 g, 27.8 mmol), and sodium hydroxide (2.22 g, 55.6 mmol) were dissolved in 30 ml of methanol. The solution was stirred for 24 h at room temperature and then extracted with dichloromethane. The resulting solution was dried over MgSO4 and concentrated to give a colorless oil. 1H NMR (300MHz, CDCl3, δ in ppm): (2.689 g, 73%). 2.85-2.55 (4H, t, NH2-(CH2)2-S-), 2.50-2.44 (2H, t, -S-CH2-CH2-), 1.55-1.30 (4H, m, -CH2-(CH2)2-CH3), 0.90-0.85 (3H, t, -CH2-CH3).
