[Ser8]-GLP-1 (7-36) amide (human, bovine, guinea pig, mouse, rat) is a modified peptide of GLP-1 (7-36), with Ala replacing the second amino acid at the N-terminus (i.e. the 8th amino acid in the complete sequence 1-37) with Ser. Replacing alanine with serine significantly improved the plasma stability of GLP-1 (7-36) amide on DPP IV without compromising its proinsulin activity. This may indicate that this modification can improve the potential of GLP-1 in the treatment of type II diabetes.
