Phase transfer catalysts are a new method of organic synthesis developed in the 1970s, which can facilitate reactions that are difficult to achieve using traditional methods. They are a type of catalyst that can help transfer reactants from one phase to another that can undergo reactions, thereby accelerating the reaction rate of heterogeneous systems. The common phase transfer catalysts currently include quaternary ammonium salts, quaternary ammonium bases, quaternary phosphonium salts, crown ethers, etc. Phase transfer catalysts can accelerate the reaction process, with mild reaction conditions, simple operation, fewer side reactions, good selectivity, and no need for expensive wastewater solvents or non proton solvents, thus receiving widespread attention.
