his alkaloid is a constituent of Lathyrus tingitanus and is laevorotatory with
[α]
21D - 55.9° (c 1.2, H20). The ultraviolet spectrum consists of a single broad
absorption maximum at 285-300 mμ. The sulphate monohydrate forms colour_x0002_less needles from aqueous EtOH with m.p. 158°C (dec.).
