Questions And Answer | Back Directory | [Description]
Yttrium (III) fluoride (chemical formula: YF3) is an inorganic chemical compound being contained in fluoride mineral. It can be manufactured through the reaction between fluorine with yttria or yttrium hydroxide together with hydrofluoric acid. It is a water insoluble yttrium source which can be used in oxygen-sensitive applications such as metal production. It is useful in ceramics for crucibles for molten reactive metals, in computer displays, automotive fuel sensors, and florescent phosphors. It can also be used for the production of metallic yttrium, thin films, glasses, and ceramics.
| [Uses]
Yttrium Fluoride is widely applied in metallurgy, ceramics, glass, and electronics. High purity grades are the most important materials for tri-bands Rare Earth phosphors and , which are very effective microwave filters. Yttrium Fluoride also can be used for the production of metallic Yttrium, thin films, glasses and ceramics. Yttrium is used in the production of a large variety of synthetic garnets, and Yttria is used to make Yttrium Iron Garnets, which are very effective microwave filters.
