Steps:
1.7 Oxidation of alcohols 1a-c,j,l,p with I2 catalyzed by nitroxide 4a and various pyridines 6a-d in at wo-phase system CH2Cl2/NaHCO3(aq.)
General procedure: A solution of alcohol 1a-c,j,l,p (4.0 mmol), nitroxide 4a (42.6 mg, 0.2 mmol) and compound 6a-d (0.4 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (10 mL) was added to a magnetically stirred solution of NaHCO3 (1.0 g, 11.94 mmol)in water (10 mL) at 20-22 °C, then I2 (2.02 g, 7.96 mmol) powder was added in one portion to the formed two-phase mixture. The reaction mixture was stirred at 20-22 °C for appropriate time (Table S07). Then a saturated solution of sodium thiosulfate (3 mL) was added and the resulted mixture was stirred for 5 min, organic and aqueous phases were separated and analyzed by GC-MS of HPLC (Table S07).
