Steps:
2.4 General procedure for the mono-N-methylation of nitroarenes with methanol
General procedure: Nitroarenes (1.0mmol), 2a (7.9mg, 1mol %), KOtBu (112mg, 1.0 equiv.) were charged in a 15mL pressure tube with a magnetic bar. Then, 3.5mL of methanol was added into the mixture. The reaction tube was closed with the Teflon stopper and was heated to the desired temperature (130°C) under stirring. After the desired reaction time, the reaction mixture was allowed to cool to room temperature. The solvent was removed under vacuum and then the product was purified by column chromatography and the product was analyzed by NMR spectroscopy.
