22 Preparation of N-(4-methoxyphenyl)benzenesulfonamide
In a 25 mL round bottom flask, 1.53 g of 4-methoxynitrobenzene, 2.65 g of benzenesulfonyl chloride, 1.96 g of iron powder, and 10 mL of water were added in that order.The resulting mixture was reacted in a 35 W/40 KHz ultrasonic stirring (600 rpm) reaction apparatus for 50 minutes.The reaction was extracted with ethyl acetate.Recrystallization gave 2.48 g of the corresponding N-(4-methoxyphenyl)benzenesulfonamide in a yield of 94%.
