Step 95a: (E)-Methyl 3-(3-(chlorosulfonyl)phenyl)acrylate (1006-218)To a solution of 3-nitro-benzaldehyde (15 g, 0.1 mol), (dimethoxy- phosphoryl)-acetic acid methyl ester (27 g, 0.148 mol) in DMF (100 ml) was added NaOMe (10.7 g 0.198 mol). The reaction was mornitored by TLC. After reaction was completed, the reaction mixture was adjusted to pH = 1 with aquous HCl solution and evaporated. The resulting solid was washed with water to afford (E)-methyl 3-(3-nitrophenyl)acrylate as a yellow solid (20.14 g, 98%).
