General procedure for the synthesis of furan 3-carboxylatederivatives
General procedure: To a solution a-diazo ester 3a (318 mg, 2 mmol) and Rh2(OAc)4 (2 mol %) in DCE (4 mL) under nitrogen atmosphere and at room temperature was added a solution of ethyl vinyl ether (216 mg, 0.288 mL, 3 mmol) in DCE (2 mL) was added through a syringe. The reaction mixture was heated at 80°C for 8 h. After the completion of the reaction as indicated by the TLC, the reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and purified by column chromatography using a pet ether/ethyl acetate 19:1 mixture as eluent to afford the pyrrole 4a.
