Water was added to a 100 mL round bottom flask and sodium hydroxide was dissolved by stirring. Ice salt bath is cooled to -5°C and 10% bromine is addedThe sodium solution was added to 0-5°C and 3.86 g of piperonyl propionamide was added in portions to control the reaction temperature to not exceed 5°C. The reaction was then stirred at 0[deg.] C. for 1 hour and at 40[deg.] C. for 3 hours. The reaction is completed, extracted with ether, the organic phase is combined and dried over anhydrous NaSO4.Vacuum recovery solvent, get 3.01Brown piperonyl ethylamine, yield 91%.
