Diphenyl carbonate synthesis
- Product Name:Diphenyl carbonate
- CAS Number:102-09-0
- Molecular formula:C13H10O3
- Molecular Weight:214.22
The organic phase, which contains the diphenyl carbonate, is separated; the solvent is stripped off and the diphenyl carbonate is purified by distillation. The reaction is accelerated by tertiary amines and is analogous to the interfacial polycondensation of 2,2-bis(4'hydroxyphenyl)propane and phosgene described. Diphenyl carbonate is a white crystalline solid, m.p. 78°C.
Yield:102-09-0 90%
Reaction Conditions:
with 1H-imidazole;potassium carbonate at 95; under 750.075 Torr; for 9 h;Inert atmosphere;Time;
Steps:
1 Example 1
Under a nitrogen atmosphere, 7.05 g of phenol, 1.41 g of imidazole and 1.41 g of potassium carbonate were mixed in a three-necked round bottom flask equipped with a dispenser, and after the temperature of the oil bath reached 95 ° C,Add 13.5 g of dimethyl carbonate (molar ratio of phenol, imidazole, potassium carbonate and dimethyl carbonate: 1:0.28:0.14:2), and react under normal pressure (0.1 MPa) for 9 hours, while passing through the reaction. A simple distillation method vaporizes the produced methanol and its azeotrope to a dispenser and removes it. At the end of the reaction, the catalyst is recovered and the solution is carried out. By gas chromatography, the phenol conversion was 38.9%, the selectivity to diphenyl carbonate was 90.5%, and the methyl phenyl carbonate (MPC) was selected to be 3.5%.
