Steps:
N-4-Chloro-2-nitrophenyl glycine (1) (9 mmol) and tin powder (3.2g, 27 mmol) was mixed in anhydrous EtOH (30 ml). Concentrated HCl (6 ml) was added dropwise. Then the mixture was refluxed for 2 hr and cooled to room temp. After addition of water (5 ml), the precipitated product was filtered and washed with H2O. The product (2) was obtained as solid with the yield of 68.9%.
