4.11.1 General procedure a for the Synthesis of Benzyl- and phenethyl sulphides (5a-h).
General procedure: 5-Amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thiol (1.00mmol) was dissolved in NaOHaq (2mL, 0.5M) at 22°C. The appropriate benzyl bromide (1.00mmol) was added as either a solid, suspension or solution in acetonitrile or methanol at 22°C and stirred for 15h. The reaction mixture was diluted with water (10mL) and extracted with EtOAc (30mL), the organic layer was washed with water (3×10mL), brine (10mL), dried (MgSO4), and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The crude material was purified by flash chromatography or recrystallization.
