To a stirred solution of compound KD (11.0 g, 38.46 mmol) in MeOH (100 mL) was added NaOH (3.1 g, 76.92 mmol) in water (50 mL) at RT and the reaction mixture was stirred at 75C for 12 h. After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was quenched with water and washed with EtOAc. The aqueous layer was treated with 2N HC1 to pH 3 and the product was extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layer was washed with water and brine, dried over anhydrous Na2S04 and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford compound KE (10.5 g, 95.1%) as an off white solid. LC-MS: m/z 188.0 [M+l-boc]+.
