The general procedure is exemplified for the synthesis of 1-aminomethyl-1-fluorcyclopentane hydrochloride 5b
General procedure: A solution of 1-azidomethyl-1-fluorocyclopentane (130 mg, 0.91 mmol) in EtOAc (3 mL), and 20 wt% of Pd/C was stirred under H2 pressure (5 bar) for 16 h at room temperature. The mixture was then filtered over Celite and the solids were washed with ethyl acetate (10 mL). After introduction of dry HCl (g) the obtained crystals were filtered and washed with diethyl ether to obtain the pure compound 5b (82 mg, 58%).
