Ferric trichloride is an important chemical raw material, because it has trivalent iron ions, so ferric trichloride has good oxidizing properties, which makes ferric trichloride have many applications in industrial production and life. Picture 1 shows the physical picture of ferric trichloride powders.

Ferric chloride can be used as a purifying agent for drinking water and a precipitant for purifying wastewater. Sewage treatment, used to remove heavy metals and phosphates from water. It can also be used as an etchant in the radio printed circuit and stainless steel etching industries. Liquid ferric chloride is an efficient and cheap flocculant for the treatment of drinking water, industrial water, industrial wastewater, urban sewage and swimming pool circulating water. It has significant precipitation of heavy metals and sulfides, decolorization, deodorization, oil removal, sterilization, phosphorus removal, and reduction Efficacy of COD and BOD in effluent.
Participate in the esterification reaction
After checking the air-tightness of the device, add 21.60g of glacial acetic acid, 26.40g of isoamyl alcohol and 0.88g of catalyst FeCl3·6H2O into a dry three-necked flask. After mixing, add 1 to 2 zeolite. Install a reflux device with a water trap, install a water trap at the middle mouth of the three-necked flask, and fill the water trap to the branch pipe mouth in advance. Install a thermometer on one side (the thermometer should be immersed below the liquid level), and plug the other side with a ground plug. Slowly heat with an electric heating mantle. When the temperature rises to about 100°C, the liquid in the three-necked flask begins to boil. Continue to increase the temperature and control the reflux speed so that the vapor infiltration surface does not exceed the first ball at the lower end of the condenser. When the water trap is full of water, release it below the branch nozzle. Control the reaction temperature to 112±2°C, which takes about 1h. The reaction is almost complete.
Participate in the arsenic removal reaction
Arsenic is a protoplasmic poison with metal-like characteristics. The poisoning dose to humans is 0.01-0.052g, and the lethal dose is 0.06-0.2g. After arsenic enters the human body, it acts on the nervous system, stimulates hematopoietic organs, and affects the production of red blood cells. Long-term exposure to arsenic can cause cell poisoning and capillary poisoning, and can even induce malignant tumors. In order to reduce the amount of hazardous waste generated in the process of removing arsenic from sodium salt, ferric chloride can be used as an arsenic removal agent to treat arsenic-containing wastewater.
Participate in the catalytic reaction of isoamyl acetate
Isoamyl acetate is a spice with a banana aroma. It is naturally found in many fruits. It is widely used in various daily flavors such as food, tobacco and cosmetics. It can also be used as an intermediate and solvent in organic synthesis. Industry generally uses strong inorganic acid (such as sulfuric acid) as a catalyst to synthesize isoamyl acetate, but sulfuric acid catalysis has serious environmental pollution problems, and the reaction time is long, the mole ratio of alkyd acid is high, and the product recovery rate is low. However, ferric chloride was used in the esterification reaction of acetic acid and isoamyl alcohol to synthesize isoamyl acetate, and achieved good results. The synthesis process has relatively small alkyd, high yield, simple reaction steps, no environmental pollution, and has the characteristics of green synthesis.
Ferric chloride focuses on industrial wastewater treatment. When in use, add the right amount of product directly to the waste water, and stir it vigorously to make it evenly mixed with the waste water. The general dosage is 0.01%~0.1% of the wastewater volume. In actual applications, due to the difference in wastewater quality, the appropriate dosage should be determined based on experiments. The pH range used is 6~10, so adjusting the pH to the required range with lime or lye before use will produce a good treatment effect.
