DABCYL-LPETG-EDANS is a bioactive peptide. DABCYL-LPETG-EDANS is a sorting enzyme substrate peptide composed of 5 amino acids and a pair of fluorescence quenching combinations, namely the C-terminal sorting signal. Sorting enzymes cleave surface proteins at the LPXTG motif and catalyze the formation of amide bonds between the carboxyl group of threonine and the amino group across the cell wall bridge. Sorting enzymes are a family of Gram positive transpeptidases responsible for anchoring surface protein virulence factors to the peptidoglycan cell wall. The cleavage of the FRET substrate by the sorting enzyme showed a fluorescence signal, Abs/Em=340/490 nm.
