The protein has a calculated MW of 52.3 kDa. The protein migrates as 55-65 kDa when calibrated against Star Ribbon Pre-stained Protein Marker under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation.

Vitronectin也被稱為S蛋白、VN、VTN、V75。Vitronectin是一種多功能糖蛋白，參與凝血、抑制膜攻擊復合物（MAC）的形成、細胞粘附和遷移、傷口愈合和組織重塑。玻連蛋白的主要細胞來源是肝細胞。特異性抗血清或基因缺失阻斷Hic（肺炎球菌表面蛋白C（PspC）家族的成員）分別顯著降低了肺炎球菌與可溶性和固定化玻連蛋白以及因子H的結合。此外，Vitronectin與糖胺聚糖和蛋白多糖相互作用。被整合素家族的某些成員識別，并作為細胞與底物的粘附分子。末端溶細胞補體途徑膜損傷作用的抑制劑。
