Bulevirtide is an antiviral drug used to treat chronic hepatitis D (where hepatitis B is present). The sequence contains 48 amino acids, including a myristic acid. The most common side effects include elevated bile salt levels in the blood and injection site reactions. The role of Blevirtide is to attach and block receptors (targets), δ Hepatitis B virus and hepatitis B virus enter hepatocytes through this receptor (target). By preventing the virus from entering cells, it limits the replication ability of HDV (hepatitis D virus) and its impact in the body, thereby alleviating the symptoms of the disease.
