Oxytocin is mainly secreted by the posterior pituitary and synthesized by the paraventricular nucleus and supraoptic nucleus of the hypothalamus. Studies have shown that its physiological function is mainly to stimulate the secretion of breast milk and promote the contraction of uterine smooth muscle during delivery. In addition, it can also reduce the level of stress hormones such as adrenal ketone in the human body to reduce blood pressure.
