Description
Diethylcarbamazine citrate (DEC) is a ?laricidal drug. Pharmacological studies showed that DEC interferes with arachidonic acid metabolism, acting as an anti-in?ammatory drug. It has been found that DEC blocks a number of steps in both the cyclooxygenase (COX) and lipoxygenase pathways, including the inhibition of leucocyte chemotaxis, granulocyte degranulation, and peripheral vasodilation.
