Vortioxetine hydrobromide is a new diarylthioalkylamine antidepressant jointly developed by Takeda (Japan) and Lingbei (Denmark) for the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders. In September 2013, it was approved for marketing by the US FDA under the trade name Brintellix for the treatment of major depressive disorder in adults, and in October of the same year, the marketing authorization application (MAA) for Vortioxetine was granted by the European Medicines In October of the same year, the marketing authorization application (MAA) for vortioxetine received a positive opinion from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP), which recommended approval of Brintellix for the treatment of adult patients with major depressive disorder (MDD), and in December 2013, the EMA European Commission granted marketing rights for vortioxetine throughout the European Union in four marketed sizes: 5 mg, 10 mg, 15 mg, and 20 mg. Vortioxetine is available in four sizes: 5mg, 10mg, 15mg and 20mg.
