Caprolactam Caprolactam is an important organic raw material used in the manufacture of polycaprolactam resins, polycaprolactam fibers, artificial leather, plastics, engineering plastics, polymer solvents, coatings, also used as plasticizers, pharmaceutical raw materials, synthetic lysine raw materials, etc. The cyclohexane oxidation method was originally invented by an American company, transferred to the German company Farben in 1941, and industrialized in 1943. The raw material is benzene, which is hydrogenated under the action of nickel catalyst to produce cyclohexane, and then oxidized by air under the action of cobalt catalyst at 140~180℃ and 1~2.5MPa to produce a mixture of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone, the ratio of the two is 6040, and the cyclohexanol in the mixture is separated and catalytically dehydrogenated to produce cyclohexanone, and the two parts of cyclohexanone are combined, and the oxime reaction is carried out with hydroxylamine in sulfuric acid at 110℃. The oxime reaction with hydroxylamine at 110℃ to produce cyclohexanone oxime, Beckman molecular rearrangement of cyclohexanone oxime in concentrated sulfuric acid at 100℃ to produce crude caprolactam, the sulfuric acid in the reaction product is neutralized with ammonia to produce ammonium sulfate as a by-product, the crude caprolactam is extracted with trichloroethylene, then distilled under reduced pressure, concentrated, recrystallized and refined. This method is carried out in the presence of boric acid if oxidized with air, and the ratio of cyclohexanol to cyclohexanone can be up to 90:10.
