Organic coprinus comatus extract is a common fungus.  It is commonly found on lawns, curbs, and waste areas.  The fruit body first appears as a white cylinder, then the bell cap opens.  The cap is white and covered with scales, from which the fungus gets its common name.

The gills under the cap are white, then pink, and finally black.  The black fluid secreted by the gills contains spores, hence the name “ink cap”.

This mushroom is unusual in that it turns black and dissolves on its own within a few hours of being picked or releasing its spores.
