Properties: 

Chlorhexidine acetate, also known as chlorhexidine acetate, is an organic matter. White or almost white crystalline powder, odorless, bitter taste. Dissolved in ethanol, slightly soluble in water. Aqueous solution is used to treat mycotic vaginitis and cervical erosion of drugs, has the effect of sterilization.

Sterilization and disinfection:

Chlorhexidine acetate is used as a disinfection and antiseptic drug, which has a very strong broad spectrum antibacterial and bactericidal effect, effective against gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative bacteria. Used for hand, instrument, wound and skin disinfection. A highly effective and safe antibacterial disinfectant for external use, which can kill Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Candida albicans. It is a cationic surface active preservative and has the characteristics of wide antibacterial spectrum and strong antibacterial action. The mechanism of action is to change the permeability of bacterial cell membrane. But it has no effect on spore, virus and acid-fast bacteria.

Clinical application: 

1. Disinfectant is used to wash hands before operation, soak in 0.02% aqueous solution (1:5000) for 3min, and disinfect the surgical field with 0.5% alcohol solution (containing 70% alcohol), its efficacy is similar to iodine tincture. It can also be used to disinfect surgical instruments with 0.1% aqueous solution (adding 0.5% sodium nitrite to prevent rust). Storage equipment can be soaked in 0.02% aqueous solution (containing 0.1% sodium nitrite), and replaced once every 2 weeks. And skin or wound disinfection with 1% spray spray, or 0.05% water solution to wash the wound, etc. 

2. Urological and gynecological medicine compound preparations containing chlorhexidine gluconate 1.2mg and metronidazole 0.2mg per milliliter are prepared for vaginal irrigation, which is used to treat various vaginitis and leucorrhea abnormalities caused by bacteria, trichomoniasis and mold. Its pharmacological effect is chlorhexidine, also known as chlorhexidine, a broad spectrum fungicide; Metronidazole, also known as Medrol, has anti-anaerobic bacteria and anti-trichomoniasis effects. There are also compound chlorhexidine acetate suppository for anaerobe, trichomoniasis vaginitis or mixed infections.

 3. Oral medicine Compound chlorhexidine gargaris is used for the adjuvant treatment of gingival bleeding, periodontal abscess and oral mucosal ulcer caused by gingivitis, pericoronitis and oral mucositis, and for the control of oral infection after dental surgery.
