Dehydroacetic acid (DA, Dehydroacetic acid), also known as acetic, acetic anhydride acetoacetic acid, solid white or light yellow crystalline powder, odorless, tasteless, melting point 108 ~ 110oC, boiling point 270oC, is a low toxicity and high efficiency anti-corrosion, mildew agent.Under the condition of acid and alkali, it has certain antibacterial effect, especially the strongest inhibitory effect on mold.It is an effective disinfectant.

Dehydroacetic acid (dehydroacetic acid, DHAA or DHA for short) is a commonly used preservative and is a derivative of pyran.Dehydroacetic acid has a low solubility in water, and its salt sodium dehydroacetate has a high solubility in water, so the latter is often used as a preservative.In industry, dehydroacetic acid is also used as plasticizer for synthetic fibers. 

Dehydroacetic Acid is one of preservatives approved to be used by WHO and UN FAC. It is water-soluble and is suitable for food preservation of high fat content.
