Methylene transfer reagent for iron(II) mediated cyclopropanation. | | Uses | Chloromethyl methyl sulfide is used as a methylene transfer reagent for iron(II) mediated cyclopropanation and for carbonyl and aromatic compounds. It protects alcohols as their methylthiomethyl (MTM) ethers by reaction, e.g. with NaH/NaI in DME.
