The difference in the OD590 values is statistically significant at concentrations of 2.0 μg/mL and 4.0 μg/mL compared with the control group. Furanone C-30 (2.0 μg/mL and 4.0 μg/mL) can inhibit biofilm formation by S. mutans and its luxS mutant strain, although it does not affect the bacterial growth rate itself.
