Antineuralgiae,Jelfa | [Definition]
ChEBI: Carbromal is a N-acylurea. | [Manufacturing Process]
120 parts urea and 258 parts 2-bromo-2-ethylbutyrylbromide was mixed and
stood at room temperature for 12 hours; then the mixture was heated about
3 hours on water bath and adjusted to alkaline pH with sodium bicarbonate
after cooling. The unreacted products was dissolved in brine, the insoluble
part was filtered off. The recrystallization from ethanol gave the title product -
(2-bromo-2-ethyl-butyryl)urea as the colorless, odorless crystals. MP 114°-
118°C. | [Brand name]
Adalin
(Sterling Winthrop). | [Therapeutic Function]
Hypnotic, Sedative |
