5-methylquinolin-8-ol can be used as a chelating extractant. | [Definition]
ChEBI: Tiliquinol is a hydroxyquinoline. | [Synthesis]
8-Hydroxy-5-methylquinoline can be prepared by the following steps: mixing p-aminocresol hydrochloride, glycerol, sulfuric acid and picric acid, heating for 3-4h. Dilute with water to make it slightly alkaline. Then adjust to strong acidity with acetic acid. Finally, steam distillation, adding ammonium hydroxide to precipitate the crude product from the acetic acid distillate, and recrystallizing and purifying with ethanol to obtain the finished product. |
